Subsea 7 closes major contract with BP Norway

Subsea 7 said in a statement that the contract is worth about $40m. The scope of work involves engineering, procurement and fabrication of subsea and platform components, installation of two 8" pipelines (one 6 km pipeline plus a 7 km pipeline) and a new caisson on the Wellhead platform and subsea tie-in spools at the Valhall Flank South and Valhall Flank North platform locations. The project management and engineering will be performed at Subsea 7's offices in Stavanger, Norway. The offshore operations are due to take place in two campaigns starting in the summer of 2010.

Tor Espedal, Subsea 7's Norway Vice President comments said the work would require the use of a number of the group's new purpose built vessels. "The contract builds upon Subsea 7's successful partnership with BP on the Skarv and Valhall redevelopment projects," he said.

The Valhall field located 290 km off the southwest coast of Norway in 70 metres of water in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.The Valhall complex consists today of seven separate platforms, five in the centre and two Flank installations.
