• SMIT Transport & Heavy Lift: chartering, barge rental & transport, ocean, coastal and river towage, heavy lifting and marine support to a variety of civil and offshore projects.

At this moment we are searching for a Senior Contract Manager for SMIT Terminals.

Job description

Profile

In this position you are responsible for the general management of the terminal including the planning to realise the objectives set by the company. You must therefore be able to effectively manage different cultures and personalities and you are responsible for the management of current contracting operations. Consequently you will have to liaise closely with consultants, contractors and subcontractors associated with current and future projects, promoting the company and its products. Most importantly you will have to liaise closely with our partner and be perceptive of regional sensitivities. You will also provide sound advice to Clients regarding technical and commercial issues with respect  to current operations and company services / products.

In this position you must ensure compliance with contractual and statutory obligations on current contracts. It is therefore important that you lay the foundations for the development of Project Management skills within the organisation in order to improve management effectiveness and development of effective utilisation of company resources. Obviously you will report to Management thus ensuring that the company objectives in respect to profitability are met!

In this position you are responsible for the compliance and promotion of the company policy concerning SHE-Q (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality), ensuring the requirements of the Clients and local statutory regulations are met. Furthermore you will have the ability to improve the "budget"(both income and costs) and market the company products, including giving presentations and carrying out public relations exercises with Clients.

Specific Knowledge, experience and skills

• Able to run the operation without day to day support from GMO;
• Able to manage more than 4 vessels and 50 offshore personnel;
• Abel to run operations in developing countries with regards to business opportunities;
• Able to manage Joint Ventures

Competencies

• Maritime qualification (Tanker berthing/loading/unloading operations and/or Tug operations);
• Ample experience in a Marine offshore / subsea management position in the Oil industry;
• Familiar with Terminal operations;
• Self starter, problem solver and disciplined;
• Professional with hands on mentality;
• Result and customer oriented;
• Leadership qualities;
• Costs awareness.
